Overview
The Recover Support Staff will provide support, mentorship, and advocacy to individuals who are navigating recovery from mental health and substance use disorders.
Roles and Responsibilities
Mentorship:
- Build trusting relationships with clients and encourage self-advocacy.

Share personal experiences to offer guidance and reduce stigma around recovery.

Provide emotional support and motivation for clients in various stages of recovery.

Service Coordination & Resource Navigation:

Assist clients with accessing services, including healthcare, housing, employment, and social

support networks.

Connect individuals to community-based programs, recovery meetings, and treatment providers.

Help clients develop individualized recovery plans that align with their goals.
Advocacy & Education:
- Educate clients on Medicaid-covered services and how to maximize available benefits.

Act as a liaison between the client and service providers to ensure continuity of care.

Promote self-sufficiency by teaching skills related to daily living, employment readiness, and

health management.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions and progress.

Adhere to all state and federal Medicaid regulations and confidentiality laws (HIPAA).

Participate in team meetings and training to ensure best practices in peer support.
Workplace Environment:
- May require travel to clients' homes, community centers, or healthcare facilities.

Flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, depending on client needs.
Position Requirements & Qualifications
- Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery (Required).

CNA, STNA, DSP, Caregiver, HHA background.

Knowledge of Medicaid services and benefits in Ohio.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Familiarity with 12-step programs and recovery-oriented services.

Valid and active driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with underserved individuals, communities, or other behavioral health settings.

Training in trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, or crisis intervention.

Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) is a plus.
