Qualifications:

At least one of the following qualifications is required:
-
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with a relevant major
-
High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years’ of relevant experience
-
Minimum of three (3) years’ clerical experience
-
Knowledge of current computing technology and capacity to learn and use payroll-based software applications
-
Ability to communicate, effectively, orally and in writing
-
Ability to meet and deal professional and courteously with the public
-
Ability to interact, professionally and courteously, with (diverse) internal and external customers
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience processing payroll
-
Experience processing public-sector payroll with multiple simultaneous pay cycles
-
Extensive experience with ERP and payroll processing software
-
Knowledge of and the ability to read and interpret complex salary schedules
-
Familiarity with Fair Labor Standards and related pay practices
-
CPP(Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification)
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.
Performance Responsibilities:
-
Assists in the district-wide payroll process in accordance with contract and Board policies.
-
Prepares maintenance changes to employees’ deductions.
-
Assists in the day-to-day operations of the department as needed including answering inquires pertaining to payrolls, greeting visitors, etc.

Audits payroll information including: additional hours, insurance, and leaves.
-
Assists in the coordination of all activities related to direct deposit and deduction payments.
-
Assists in the training and supervision of all payroll staff.
-
Facilitates the training of employees responsible for submitting payroll information.
-
Coordinates with Human Resources to ensure proper payments as well as account coding.
-
Attends workshops and trainings pertaining to payroll, as needed.

Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned.
