Supporting Behavioral Health Access with Compassion, Skill, and Coordination
- Current Louisiana licensure as LCSW, LMSW, LPC, or PLPC.
- One year of mental health or chemical dependency experience in a psychiatric or social service setting preferred but not required.
- Strong crisis intervention, assessment, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of DSM diagnostic criteria preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, referral sources, and community agencies.

Provide behavioral health assessments, crisis intervention, referrals, and coordinated admissions support for patients seeking psychiatric, chemical dependency, or social service care. Serve as a liaison between patients, families, referral agents, and treatment teams to ensure safe and appropriate care access.
Essential Job Functions:
- Receives and documents inquiry calls from individuals and agencies seeking access to behavioral health services.
- Schedules and conducts in-person behavioral health assessments, including face-to-face ED evaluations.
- Provides crisis intervention and discharge planning for patients in the Emergency Department.
- Conducts consults on medical floors as needed and documents assessments accurately.
- Completes insurance precertification and facilitates admission paperwork for behavioral units.
- Refers individuals not meeting admission criteria to appropriate community resources.
- Prepares and submits daily activity reports and special data as requested.
- Mentors, orients, and serves as a resource to new admissions staff.
- Provides guidance for complex admissions and contributes to department performance improvement.
- Monitors system-wide issues affecting admission efficiency and proposes improvements.
- Provides social service consults related to shelter, detox, home health, transportation, DME, and abuse/neglect concerns.
- Assists ED staff with trauma cases and access to morgue as needed.
- Represents BRG at community initiatives and collaborative events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
