Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Machine Operator for our 1st shift in the medical device manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with industrial equipment, and a commitment to quality and safety standards. As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining various manufacturing machinery to produce high-quality medical devices. Other jobs may include other areas in the facility, including assembly, bonding, testing, labelling, sealing and packaging devices according to detail manufacturing processes.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functionality and consistent product quality, making minor adjustments as needed.
- Perform routine cleaning of machines to prevent breakdowns and ensure operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic issues or malfunctions that arise during production, reporting complex problems to supervisors or engineering teams.
- Load and unload raw materials and parts from machines efficiently and safely.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet production goals and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform assembly and packaging operations per Router, Procedures, Manufacturing Work Instructions (MWI) and per the instruction of the Lead, Supervisor or Manager
- Setup, operate, and maintain manufacturing and test equipment and fixtures as instructed. This includes but is not limited to pouch sealers, burst test machine, air screw drivers, testing fixture for Earpopper, ultrasonic cleaners, UV light chambers, and microscopes. Monitor all equipment performance and notify an Engineer or Supervisor of any problems.
- Monitor the quality of raw materials, sub-assemblies, and finished products. Place all non-conforming products in red reject bins and communicate discrepancies to Lead, Supervisor or Manager.
- Follow manufacturing procedures, company policies/procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Strict adherence to PROD-2004 Clean room Operating Procedure is required.
- Complete assigned jobs in a timely manner within the specified standards. Initial and date routers at the completion of each operation. Include lot number and quantity as required.
- Cross train throughout manufacturing to accommodate fluctuations in workload and to meet customer demands.
- Follow line clearance and closure procedures (MWI 60002). Clean work areas according to PROD-3000 Clean room Cleaning Work Instruction.
- Obtain raw materials from the warehouse as needed.
- Train other employees as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Education Requirements:
- Must have 1-2 years’ experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing or production setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical degree or certification is a plus).
- Must have the ability to read, write and speak English to comprehend and execute Manufacturing Work Instructions. (MWI)
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact professionally with all employees to enhance teamwork and to foster positive working relationships.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to use hand tools and measurement devices.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Good manual dexterity for operating equipment and performing light assembly.
- Must have attention to detail.
HOURS: Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30; OT as required
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
