The Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to join our healthcare team. Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.

Job Duties:
Administers and documents medications in accordance with physician orders, nursing protocols, and facility policies, ensuring accuracy, safety, and accountability in all medication distribution processes.-
Prepares, organizes, and assists with multidisciplinary clinics, including general practice, gynecology, dental, dermatology, and psychiatric clinics as needed. Supports providers during examinations and procedures by preparing equipment, positioning patients, and maintaining sterile technique.

Conducts routine patient rounds to observe, assess, and document patients’ physical conditions, behaviors, and responses to treatment. Identifies changes in health status, ensures continuity of care, and communicates findings promptly to supervising medical staff.

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.

An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.

This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Practical Nurse Licensed 1 has an SER of $19.48 per hour

Practical Nurse Licensed 2 has an SER of $20.84 per hour

Practical Nurse Licensed 3 has an SER of $22.30 per hour
This position also offers premium pay: A rate of $5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.
Career Progression Group: PRACTICAL NURSE LICENSED 1, 2, OR 3
