The Forklift Operator/Material Handler will be responsible for supporting warehouse and production operations including loading, unloading, transporting, and verifying materials. This person is critical to maintain accurate inventory, timely material supply to production lines, supporting the cleanliness and functionality of warehouses, and to ensure safe handling practices.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials within the warehouse, production areas, and/or storage facilities.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Verify incoming materials against bills of lading and packaging lists before truck drivers depart.
- Transport materials between departments, production lines, and storage areas.
- Utilize scales to weigh materials including calculating partial weights as necessary.
- Repackage and organize materials to maintain warehouse standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts using basic math and documentation.
- Print and manage batch tickets, pick lists, and documentation as needed.
- Assist in investigating inventory deviations or shortages.
- Follow all OSHA safety standards and promote general material handling and warehouse safety.
- Support facility housekeeping, including sweeping and operating floor scrubbers.
- Transport waste and recyclables to the appropriate receptacle, dumpster, or compactor.
Experience/Knowledge:
- Prior experience in warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Familiarity with standard warehousing practices and safety protocols.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic and handle documentation.
- Capable of maintaining integrity and discipline when working unsupervised.
- Good communication skills. English language is a must; Spanish capabilities are a plus!
- Ability to adapt to changing requests and priorities.
Work Requirements:
- This is a full-time, 1st shift hourly position (Monday - Friday: 6:30AM - 3:00PM)
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, get on and off a forklift, and operate a forklift for the entirety of an 8 hour shift.
- Must comply with all safety procedures and protocols.
- Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs overhead regularly, as well as lift and carry 50+ on occasion.
- Regular attendance and reliability are essential.
- Occasional driving of a 24' stick shift box truck.
