The Cheese Dept Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the specialty cheese dept, product quality, presentation, and customer service.
This role requires product knowledge, inventory management, and leadership skills to drive sales and maintain high merchandising standards.
[QUALIFICATION]
- Prior experience in a cheese shop, deli, or specialty food retail setting preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift and move products (up to 40 lbs)
- Knowledge of cheese varieties, origins, aging processes, and pairings
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to safely handle and cut cheese using knives and slicers
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
[RESPONSIBILITIES]
- Manage day-to-day operations of the cheese department
- Maintain high standards of product quality, freshness, and food safety compliance, including proper labeling, pricing, and merchandising
- Handle, cut, wrap, and store cheeses according to food safety standards
- Order, receive, and manage inventory; monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or overstock
- Monitor department performance, including sales and margins
- Train, supervise, and schedule department staff
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Develop merchandising displays to drive customer engagement
- Assist customers with cheese selection, pairings, and usage recommendations
- Stay updated on cheese trends, new products, and supplier offerings

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
