Title: Lead Electrician

Job Summary:
The Lead Electrician is responsible for leading electrical installations and service work on assigned job sites while performing electrical work alongside the crew. This position serves as the on-site leader, directing one to two Electrical Helpers, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards, customer expectations, and applicable electrical codes. The Lead Electrician is expected to maintain productivity, communicate effectively with management, and ensure quality workmanship throughout each project.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provides day-to-day direction and training to one to two Electrical Helpers.
- Assigns work and monitors productivity on the job site.
- Ensures all work is performed safely and according to company standards.
- Reports employee performance concerns or training needs to management.
- Does not have responsibility for hiring, firing, or formal disciplinary decisions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead electrician on assigned residential and/or commercial job sites.
- Perform electrical installations, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings.
- Direct and mentor Electrical Helpers while ensuring quality workmanship.
- Plan daily job activities and delegate tasks appropriately.
- Ensure projects remain on schedule and communicate progress to management.
- Inspect completed work for quality and code compliance.
- Identify and resolve electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and company safety policies.
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, inspectors, and other trades as needed.
- Track and communicate material needs to management.
- Complete required job documentation accurately and timely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of residential and/or commercial electrical systems.
- Ability to lead and motivate a small field crew.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet project deadlines.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of hands-on electrical experience required.
- Previous experience leading a crew or serving as a lead electrician strongly preferred.
- Electrical license is not required but is considered a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
