Job Summary
As a Supervising Nurse (RN), you will lead nursing care delivery on your assigned shift, supervising both professional and support staff. This position combines clinical excellence with leadership responsibility, ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care for our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee total resident care during assigned shift
- Supervise and support RNs, LPNs, and CNAs in clinical and administrative duties
- Observe resident conditions and ensure proper documentation and follow-up
- Collaborate with medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and external partners
- Ensure compliance with care plans, staffing plans, and facility procedures
- Manage inter-shift communications and reports
- Lead or assist in in-service training, quality assurance, infection control, and neighborhood management as assigned
- Complete and submit accurate and timely MDS assessments in accordance with regulatory and facility timelines
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure data accuracy and compliance
- Monitor and update care plans based on MDS outcomes and resident status changes
- Ensure documentation supports coding for quality measures and reimbursement (PDPM)
- Participate in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives related to MDS accuracy and outcomes
Qualifications
- Current NYS Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license (in good standing)
- One (1) year of experience in long-term care or acute care OR two (2) years in any professional nursing setting
- Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to supervise teams, manage conflict, and foster collaboration
- Current RAC-CT certification (Resident Assessment Coordinator – Certified) preferred
- Experience completing MDS 3.0 assessments in accordance with CMS guidelines
- Strong working knowledge of PDPM, care area assessments (CAAs), and care planning
- Familiarity with PointClickCare or similar electronic health record systems
Preferred Skills
- Experience with geriatric and rehabilitative nursing
- Familiarity with quality assurance or infection control
- Confidence managing complex care situations and staffing challenges
