About the Role
We’re a growing local manufacturer of custom refuse truck bodies and components. We’re looking for a reliable, skilled MIG Welder / Fabricator who takes pride in quality work, can work independently, and is flexible enough to support the team as needed. This is not an entry-level position — we need someone dependable who can deliver consistent results in a busy shop environment.
What You’ll Do
- MIG weld parts, subassemblies, and larger truck components to high standards.
- Perform layout, measuring, drilling, grinding, plasma cutting, oxy/acetylene torch work, and tacking/fitting per blueprints.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders; layout designs to tight tolerances with strong math skills.
- Identify and repair your own weld/defect issues.
- Work independently while taking direction as needed and collaborating with the team.
- Assist with non-welding tasks such as truck assembly, component installation, and minor repairs (flexibility is key as the company grows).
- Operate a forklift safely and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Requirements (Must-Haves)
- Proven MIG welding experience and ability to pass an on-site weld test.
- Strong skills in layout, blueprint reading, measuring to tight tolerances, drilling, grinding, plasma cutting, and oxy/acetylene torch.
- Reliable transportation and excellent attendance (on time 100% of the time).
- Ability to work unsupervised, take direction, and be flexible with shop tasks.
- Capable of lifting heavy objects and working in a non-air-conditioned shop (hot summers).
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ownership of your work (find and fix defects).
What We Offer
- Competitive pay based on skills and experience.
- Comprehensive benefits: Health, Dental, Vision insurance.
- PTO and Paid Holidays.
- Stable day-shift hours in a growing local company.
- Opportunities to grow with the business.
