THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles, construction equipment, and powered tools. You will play a key role in keeping essential machinery in safe, dependable working condition. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:
- Vehicle Repair: Perform skilled repairs on cars, trucks, tractors, construction equipment, and powered hand tools
- Preventive Care: Carry out inspections, oil changes, tune ups, diagnostics, and system repairs across multiple vehicle systems
- Safety Inspection: Complete official safety and emissions inspections, apply stickers, and finalize related documentation
- Diesel Service: Service diesel equipment including filters, pumps, gaskets, electrical systems, and driveline components
- Field Work: Provide emergency road service and perform repairs at county stockpiles when needed
- Equipment Records: Maintain accurate repair logs, assist mechanics on major repairs, and demonstrate proper techniques to others
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Travel, overtime, and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,819 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- You must be a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Certified Inspection Mechanic for Class 1 vehicles.
