Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive grooming services including bathing, brushing, hair trimming, pet coat styling, and nail trimming to meet each dog’s specific needs.
- Handle animals with care and confidence, utilizing animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for pets and staff during grooming procedures.
- Provide pet care that includes cleaning ears, expressing glands if necessary, and maintaining overall hygiene standards.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to understand grooming preferences, provide advice on pet coat maintenance, and address any special needs or health considerations.
- Manage kennel or holding areas responsibly, ensuring pets are comfortable and secure before and after grooming sessions.
- Assist with pet sitting or transportation duties as needed, including heavy lifting of larger animals or equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of grooming stations and equipment to uphold health standards and ensure a safe environment for all animals.
Skills
- Proven experience in pet grooming with a focus on dog handling and pet coat styling.
- Knowledge of animal handling techniques, including animal restraint and safe lifting practices.
- Background in veterinary experience or veterinary technician/assistant roles is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with pet care routines such as nail trimming, ear cleaning, and general hygiene maintenance.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners regarding grooming preferences and animal health concerns.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a lively, positive attitude.
- Experience with kennel management or pet sitting is a plus; heavy lifting capability is required for larger animals or equipment.
