Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our dynamic team. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside skilled veterinarians and support staff in delivering comprehensive veterinary care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in animal handling, veterinary procedures, and clinical support, contributing to our mission of providing top-tier animal health services.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with precision and care.
- Perform animal restraint, handling, and husbandry to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Prepare animals for procedures through proper grooming, cleaning, and positioning.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during laboratory tests, catheterizations, and other clinical procedures to prevent infection.
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as digital radiography (X-ray), ultrasound, and laboratory analyzers accurately.
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with pet dental care routines.
- Document medical records thoroughly, ensuring accuracy in veterinary terminology and animal physiology data.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
Experience
- Prior kennel experience or pet care background demonstrating familiarity with animal husbandry practices.
- Veterinary technician experience or similar role supporting clinical operations in a veterinary setting.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology essential for effective communication and procedure execution.
- Experience with laboratory testing, X-ray operation, or veterinary critical care is highly desirable.
- Skills in dog handling, pet grooming, dog training, and animal restraint enhance the ability to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Familiarity with equine or exotic animal experience is a plus but not mandatory.
