Duties and Responsibilities

Works closely with teachers and staff to ensure that MDCS is in compliance with all Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and to work with students one-on-one or in small groups

Responsible for creating a positive environment for their students, implementing curriculum, assessing students, building relationships with our families, collaborating with their team and other duties, as assigned

Provide speech and language therapy special education services to students in groups and as individuals per their Individual Education Plans

Provide intervention to students through response to intervention including individual, small groups and/or classroom intervention

Attend IEP meetings, write progress summaries on present levels of performance, and proposed IEP goals

Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments

Provide appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students' needs and correct existing speech or language impairments

Keep thorough records for each student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech-language services

Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings

Conduct speech/language evaluations if necessary
