What You’ll Do for Our Patients
The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis for our UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for performing and analyzing patient x-rays and reporting results to Medical Providers. Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care Centers. In a collaborative manner, the Radiologic Technologist will provide support to Medical Providers, Medical Assistants, and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.
Job Requirements
Required Licenses/Certifications
Patient Preparation and Rooming
Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to the provider as needed.
Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to providers.
Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed
Other responsibilities include:
1. Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.
2. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics
3. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
1. Positioning patients properly for the X-ray procedure required.
2. Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
3. Following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
