Job Summary
Olive Orthodontics is a state-of-the-art orthodontic practice located in Creve Coeur. We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Orthodontic Clinical Assistant to join our exceptional staff. We believe in promoting work-life balance, and our unique schedule reflects that commitment.
Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments following infection control protocols.
- Assist the orthodontist during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and professionalism.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including panoramic and 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
- Manage patient records efficiently within Ortho2Edge, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, appliance care, and post-treatment instructions to promote optimal results.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients, and maintaining organized dental records.
- Have your EFDA certification or agree to take the test to become Expanded Functions Dental Assisting certified. Within the first year of being hired we help you achieve this education.
Skills
- Proficiency with systems such as Ortho2Edge for managing dental records and documentation.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and the specifics of orthodontics.
- Experience with dental imaging techniques including X-ray procedures and 3D scanning technology.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization protocols essential for a safe clinical environment.
- Ability to learn quickly and run a column of patients efficiently.
- Familiarity with dental terminology related to dental records management.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, especially children.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings while maintaining attention to detail.
- Have a can-do attitude and take on extra duties such as ordering supplies, marketing, and social media management.
