Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled, adaptable, and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. This position is primarily based in Anchorage, with occasional travel to our Homer clinic a few times per month. The ideal candidate is flexible, team-oriented, and comfortable supporting both clinical and front desk operations when needed.
When working in our Homer location, this role will also assist with front desk responsibilities to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare professionals with patient examinations and procedures
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare providers
- Provide basic life support and first aid when necessary
- Perform phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests and procedures
- Assist with patient education and provide information on medications and treatments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
- Provide medical administrative support, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, handling insurance documentation, and medication prior authorizations
- Travel to Homer clinic a few times per month to support patient care and clinic operations
- At Homer location: assist with front desk duties including patient check-in/check-out, answering phones, scheduling, and general administrative support
- Other duties as assigned
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant preferred but not required
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a dynamic clinical environment
Additional Qualifications:
- Willingness and ability to travel to Homer as needed (a few times per month)
- Comfortable working in both clinical and administrative/front desk roles
- Reliable and team-oriented mindset
