ELG Federal Solutions is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Clerical Assistant to support the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), Eastern District of Louisiana within the Monetary Penalties and Recovery Unit (MPRU).
This position provides essential administrative and clerical support to the Financial Litigation and Asset Forfeiture Units by maintaining case records, processing legal documents, managing databases, and supporting federal legal professionals in recovering criminal debts and managing asset forfeiture cases. What You'll Do
As a Clerical Assistant, you will:
- Provide clerical support to attorneys, paralegals, collection agents, and support staff
- Enter and maintain information in government databases
- Open and close financial litigation cases
- Generate reports and statistical data
- Prepare routine legal correspondence and notices
- Assist with payment reconciliation and financial record updates
- Maintain electronic and paper case files
- Scan, organize, and archive legal documents
- Perform document redactions to remove sensitive information
- Research information using public records and legal databases
- Maintain calendars and case management systems
- Support daily office operations and administrative tasks
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of administrative, clerical, or office support experience
- Strong computer skills, including:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Outlook
- Adobe Acrobat
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
- Professional demeanor and excellent customer service skills
Preferred
- Experience working in a law office, government agency, or legal environment
- Experience with case management or database systems
- Records management experience
- Experience handling confidential or sensitive information
- Familiarity with financial or legal documentation
Security Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen
- Successfully pass a DOJ Background Investigation
- Meet DOJ residency requirements
- Be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive government information
Work Environment
- Full-time (40 hours per week)
- Monday through Friday
- Federal holidays observed
- Situational telework may be available based on agency approval
- Occasional overtime may be required with prior approval
