Summary:
Direct all aspects of mechanical and electrical maintenance throughout the manufacturing site. Responsible for predictive and preventive maintenance, purchasing maintenance, repair and operational (MRO) items with a focus on uptime, repairs and maintenance to budget, and percentage of preventive maintenance work orders and safety work orders completed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of maintenance functions.
Ensure work is performed properly to minimize downtime throughout the facility.
Ensure a high quality of workmanship is being performed at all times.
Assist with daily planning and scheduling of workflow through maintenance.
Approve the purchase of parts and supplies for the purpose of maintaining the equipment to OEM standards or better.
Ensure that all standards of safety are adhered to at all times.
Ensure that all new industrial maintenance and electricians receive the appropriate safety training.
Maintain the facility to ensure all federal, state and insurance protocols are being followed.
Work with upper management on new capital projects.
Ensure all paperwork is completed correctly and turned in appropriately.
Follow up with supervisors on requested work performed and the status of "issues" that relate to anything that has been causing downtime.
Hold regular department meetings at least quarterly.
Work directly with the Planning Coordinator to ensure PM's are being completed in a timely manner.
Ensure all employee issues or deficiencies are documented and followed up on.
Complete annual performance evaluations for all the maintenance staff.
Follow established departmental housekeeping, safety practices and standard operation procedures.
Assist with breakdown maintenance when necessary.
Basic Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license.
Language skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Proficient computer skills in Google Docs, Microsoft applications and aptitude to learn internal systems.
Ability to speak effectively and professionally to customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematic skills with the ability to calculate figures and amounts using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Education, Experience, and Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or 4 years’ equivalent experience in industrial maintenance or wood products.
Work Environment:
Combined office and industrial/manufacturing work setting.
This safety-sensitive position requires employees to comply with all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and required drug and alcohol testing procedures.
Physical Demands:
Must be physically able to perform a variety of maintenance functions when necessary.
Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, sitting. lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, and climbing).
