Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging English curricula aligned with educational standards and tailored to diverse student needs
- Design lesson plans that incorporate creative writing, literacy education, and research skills to enhance student learning outcomes
- Utilize learning technology tools to facilitate interactive lessons and support differentiated instruction
- Conduct classroom management to foster a positive, inclusive environment conducive to active participation
- Provide constructive feedback through proofreading, copy editing, and assessment of student work
- Mentor students in developing strong writing skills, standardized test preparation, and academic advising
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and educational best practices
- Support special education needs and behavior management strategies to ensure all students succeed
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to journalism, linguistics, the Chicago Manual of Style, AP style, and instructional design
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or related field; higher education teaching experience preferred
- Proven classroom experience with strong classroom management skills
- Expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional design
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with students of varying ages and backgrounds
- Knowledge of literacy education techniques, standardized testing procedures, and library services integration
- Familiarity with learning technology platforms and educational software tools
- Experience working in private school settings or Montessori environments is a plus
- Strong organizational skills for managing multiple classes and administrative responsibilities
- Ability to mentor students in creative writing, research projects, and academic advising
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom that supports special education needs and behavior management strategies
