Position Summary
RTS is seeking an experienced Computer and Cell Phone Repair Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablets across major brands (Apple, Samsung, Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc.). The ideal candidate has hands-on, verifiable repair experience and can work efficiently in a fast-paced retail repair environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair hardware/software issues on computers, laptops, smartphones, and tablets
- Perform screen, battery, charging port, camera, and motherboard-level repairs
- Conduct data recovery, virus/malware removal, and OS reinstalls
- Perform micro-soldering or board-level repairs (if applicable to role level)
- Process repair tickets accurately in our ticketing/POS system
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding diagnostics, repair timelines, and costs
- Maintain accurate parts inventory and order parts as needed
- Process warranty and insurance claims (e.g., SquareTrade/Allstate) where applicable
- Adhere to safety, ESD, and data privacy protocols
- Provide excellent customer service and upsell relevant services/products
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1–3 years of verifiable, hands-on repair experience (must provide references, prior employer contact info, or documented work history — certifications alone do not substitute for this requirement)
- Demonstrated experience repairing both computers AND mobile devices
- Working knowledge of Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android operating systems
- Experience with screen replacement, battery replacement, and common board-level repairs
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment (multimeters, hot air stations, etc., as applicable)
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Reliable transportation and ability to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA A+, Apple Certified (ACiT/ACMT), or similar industry certification
- Experience with micro-soldering / component-level repair
- Prior experience working with insurance/warranty repair programs (SquareTrade, Asurion, etc.)
- Experience with POS/ticketing systems (RepairShopr, RepairDesk, etc.)
Pay: $17.50 - $22.00 per hour
