POSITION TITLE: Aide - Instructional Pre-K
EXEMPTION STATUS: Non Exempt
REPORTS TO: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months;(2026-2027 school year)
HOURLY SALARY RANGE: Minimum $12.00, Midpoint $15.00, Maximum $18.00
Primary Purpose:
Provide instructional support services. Assist the teacher in instruction, preparation, and management of classroom activities. Work under the direct supervision of the teacher(s).
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Associate Degree, two years of study (48 college hours) at an institute of higher learning, or meet formal academic assessment
Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills
Ability to assist with classroom instruction
Ability to work well with children
Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to speak and write Spanish, preferred
Experience:
Experience working with children
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies

Provide direct instruction to students as assigned by the teacher and work with individual students and small groups.

Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays, administering and scoring assignments and assessments, preparing records and reports, and maintaining a neat and orderly learning environment.

Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.

Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers, as needed.

Assist in conducting parent involvement activities.
Student Management

Assist with classroom management.

Supervise students throughout the day, before and after school, inside and outside the classroom, in the cafeteria, in the hallway, at drop-off/pick-up locations, on the bus, on the playground, on field trips, and at other times and locations as assigned.

Keep the teacher informed of special needs and issues of individual students.

Maintain familiarity with district curriculum and initiatives to better serve the needs of students.

Participate in professional learning activities to improve job-related skills and demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
