Summary:
Under the direction of the Community & Family Services Division Director, and in concurrence with the regional advisory councils, the Domestic Violence Regional Coordinator will implement various projects that are aimed at reducing domestic violence, sexual assault, and other crimes against elders, women, men, children, and vulnerable adults.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will:

Provide program coordination for the implementation of DV/SA and Victims of Crime project objectives, timelines, and work plans.
- Work with DV/SA and Victims of Crime Advocates and Clinician/Advocates to promote activities and victim safety throughout Chugachmiut’s communities.

Provide domestic violence awareness, understanding of kinds of crimes that can be perpetrated against elders and vulnerable adults, outreach and education on human trafficking issues, and prevention education (where funded), facilitating and organizing meetings, and supporting the needs of program constituents.
- Provide program administration, including interfacing with grant managers, fiscal stewardship and acting as a liaison between the regional headquarters and remote villages.
- Create training and collaborative partnerships with domestic violence and victims of various crimes service organizations.

Write grant proposals and seek growth opportunities that both sustain and develop greater service opportunities in line with strategic plans for the entire region.

Plan for regional Women’s Gatherings once per year as funding allows. Participate in the development of Men’s Gatherings (including curricula) to ensure healthy relationship concepts are integrated.

Promote healthy, substance-free community activities (such as craft groups, educational programs, Positive Indian Parenting, and other programs) to provide outreach and community development.

Develop tribal response plans for reducing and preventing domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Coordinate regional advisory council meetings, as possible, wherein DV/SA are important components for feedback
- Complete and provide quarterly reports to the Chugachmiut Board of Directors and complete timely periodic reports to all OVW, OVC, and other program funders.

Work Environment:
Chugachmiut employees strive both for excellence in the services they provide and, through our Employee Values Statement, to serve with integrity. Physical Environment:
The following demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires the ability to sit for long period of time. The position requires: normal range of hearing and eyesight, eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate office equipment such as computer keyboard, photocopier, telephone and calculator. Employee may be required to lift approximately 30 pounds. Travel to remote locations by boat, snowmobile, ATV or small plane is required and employee must be willing and able to travel.
Hours of Work:
Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with one hour for lunch. Chugachmiut maintains a drug and alcohol and/non-smoking work environment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of high school graduate or G.E.D. required plus two years’ experience in the field.

Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Four (4) year’s progressive experience with domestic violence service provision or administration.

Familiarity with Alaska Native or Native American culture and customs.

Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledgeable of community, legal, and protective resources.

Knowledge of basic behavioral health and physical and mental abuse issues

Knowledge of risk behavior and issues

Knowledge of and skills in blending traditional and evidence-based substance abuse treatment modalities and practices.
- Knowledge of treatment and recovery models in use with Alaska Native people, including traditional health/healing practices and culture based services activities.

Knowledge and independent judgment in all areas of job performance including adherence to appropriate professional boundaries and strict confidentiality practices in regard to beneficiary activities and documentation.
