American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery night shift position in an acute care Birthing Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of LDRP experience and active WA or compact RN license.

Acute care Birthing Center with 34 total L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum beds
-
Unit averages 150–180 births per month

Patient population includes high-risk cases (33+ weeks gestation), preeclampsia, diabetic, psych/social, and patients with positive illicit substance use
-
AWHONN staffing ratios followed: 1:2 for L&D and 1:3–4 for couplets
-
Nurses are required to titrate drips, including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin
-
EFM system used is Centricity Perinatal; PACU monitoring available post C-section
-
EMR is Epic; experience required
-
12-hour night shifts; weekend nights are Friday and Saturday
-
Every other weekend required
-
Standby/on-call requirement with a 45-minute response time when placed on standby
-
Travelers are expected to float within the department, including postpartum and mother-baby; no floating to NICU or outside the department

Block scheduling available when requested

Free charge nurse coverage on both shifts
-
Surgical tech available 24/7; patient care assistants with clerical duties on each shift
-
24/7 in-house OB/GYN hospitalist and NNP in the nursery
-
24/7 OB anesthesia provider on-site with a call room on the unit
-
Respiratory therapy staff typically assigned to the family birth unit
-
Active WA state or compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
-
Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP — pending certifications not accepted

Intermediate or advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required; candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered with multiple prior travel assignments

Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections
-
Must be comfortable assisting with catching and transitioning newborns
-
Must have postpartum competencies, including routine mom and baby care and attending low-risk deliveries
-
2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Orientation consists of an 8-hour compliance day with the manager, an 8-hour Epic class, and 2–3 12-hour unit-specific orientation shifts

Holidays are rotated in with permanent staff

Scrubs are provided by the facility; a locker is also provided

The unit manager provides active feedback to all staff and expects travelers to be open and adaptable to unit workflows, policies, procedures, and feedback

Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
