Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Access Control & Network Installation Technician with strong hands-on experience installing, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining Johnson Controls (JCI) and Bosch access control systems. This position will primarily support enterprise access control deployments throughout Texas and surrounding states, with network infrastructure, structured cabling, CCTV, and fire alarm interface work as supporting responsibilities.
Duties
- Install, program, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain Johnson Controls (JCI) access control systems, including controllers, card readers, credentials, electric locking hardware, request-to-exit devices, door position switches, and power supplies.
- Install, program, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain Bosch access control systems, including controllers, readers, door hardware, credentialing, alarm inputs/outputs, and system integrations.
- Perform access control system programming, database configuration, device enrollment, point-to-point testing, functional testing, and final system commissioning.
- Diagnose and resolve access control hardware, software, network communication, power, wiring, and field-device issues on JCI and Bosch systems.
- Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot Cat5e/Cat6, fiber optic, coaxial, and other low voltage cabling supporting access control and network systems.
- Configure and troubleshoot switches, routers, wireless access points, VLANs, TCP/IP addressing, PoE infrastructure, and network connectivity required for security systems.
- Install and integrate electric strikes, magnetic locks, crash bars, request-to-exit devices, door position switches, power supplies, relays, and other access control peripherals.
- Read construction drawings, one-lines, risers, wiring diagrams, door schedules, sequences of operation, and as-built documentation.
- Perform system testing, commissioning, customer training, service documentation, and closeout documentation.
- Support CCTV, NVR/VMS, fire alarm interfaces, and related low-voltage systems when required.
- Travel throughout Texas with occasional overnight travel.
- Maintain a professional appearance and exceptional customer service.
Preferred Experience
Priority Qualification: Direct field experience installing, programming, and servicing JCI and/or Bosch access control systems. Candidates with demonstrated experience on both platforms will receive strongest consideration.
- 3+ years of commercial access control and low-voltage installation experience, with JCI and/or Bosch experience strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Johnson Controls (JCI) and Bosch enterprise access control platforms is highly preferred. Experience with Software House CCURE, Kantech, Bosch Access Management System (AMS), or comparable JCI/Bosch platforms is a major advantage.
- Experience programming intelligent access controllers, readers, inputs/outputs, schedules, access levels, cardholder/credential databases, alarms, and system integrations.
- Strong troubleshooting ability across access control hardware, field wiring, power supplies, locking hardware, network communications, and system software.
- Experience with Altronix and LifeSafety Power systems; fire alarm interface installation, programming, testing, and commissioning experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, and TIA/EIA cabling standards.
- Experience operating boom lifts, scissor lifts, and working at heights.
- Texas DPS Security License or ability to obtain one.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and work indoors/outdoors in all weather.

Salary
$32–$40/hour depending on experience, certifications, and technical capabilities.
Overtime available.
