The Senior Buyer is responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies that ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. They will have strong negotiation and analytical skills, as well as experience managing a team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Verify and place purchase orders for raw sheet metal, Outside Services, and customer-specific commodities.

Utilize the ERP system, Epicor, to validate pricing and delivery per job requirements.

Ensure that purchase orders are received by the job requirement date, working with suppliers to manage job pull-ins/push-outs, and late purchase orders

Work with the Customer Project Manager to review customer projects and forecasts, and plan buys accordingly with commodity buyers

Plan interdepartmental strategies to improve material flow and reduce inventory

Analyze repeat buys for cost reduction and transaction reduction opportunities

Obtain quotations from suppliers, examine contracts, and negotiate cost reduction

Manage Supplier Scorecards, and distribute monthly to key suppliers

Initiate and manage monthly supplier audits

Run and analyze various reports in ERP system and Microsoft Excel

Direct meetings with various suppliers and team leaders, under the supervision of the Purchasing Supervisor

Adheres to all company and departmental policies and procedures.

Maintain customer and MASS Quality requirements.

Maintain a clean and safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
-
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred
-
Minimum of 2 years in a purchasing or supply chain management environment (5 years preferred)

Experience in the Manufacturing industry (preferred)

APICS or equivalent certification (preferred)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Experience with an ERP/MRP system, such as Epicor, Oracle, or SAP

Professional communication skills, both written and oral

Strong analytical, numerical, planning, organization, and problem-solving skills, "thinking outside the box" when necessary.

Effective time-management skills to meet deadlines

Proven ability to plan and coordinate with other departments as needed

Supply chain management skills or equivalent prior experience in project planning, inventory management, or manufacturing operations

Leadership skills in directing and supervising activities when needed

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at the appropriate level across the organization.

Proficient with MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese preferred

Ability to commit to a flexible schedule and prompt arrival to scheduled shifts.

Ability to follow verbal instructions

Ability to be cross trained in other departments to help with unexpectedly high demands.

Required to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

Required to wear PPE when in the production area
