JOB SUMMARY:
Fathers and Families Center equips fathers and empowers families so that children thrive. We accomplish this by working with fathers and their families to help them to be better partners, providers and parents.
Reporting to the Vice President for Programs and Partnerships, the Manager, Construction Training Center will design, develop and manage all educational, training, and operational activities of the training center including staffing, facilities, programming, certifications, and coordination with employer partners, unions, vendors and suppliers. S/he will also be responsible for managing this location as well as providing hands on instruction for various construction modules.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Manage 12 training cohorts per year (with approximately 20-25 students per cohort).
· Coordination of day and evening forklift, HVAC, apartment maintenance, and other certification opportunities.
· Ensure the hands-on construction and union readiness skills training meets or exceeds the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 curriculum for certification requirements.
· Monitor proctored written and practical exams; review performance reports to evaluate individual trainees’ performance as required by certifying agencies. At times, administer exams and write performance reports.
· Collaborate with VP, Programs and Partnerships, to develop class and testing schedules.
· Identify and document training opportunities, requirements and career paths for participants.
· Manage the advisement of students in career and program matters.
· Evaluate and record training achievements and challenges, providing quarterly written reports.
· Schedule, supervise, and evaluate instructors and trainers to ensure adherence to curriculum guidelines and quality learning experiences.
· Provides timely, quality access to students and staff through electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
· Assists students with advising, class, and job placement.
· Manage the day-to-day activities of the Construction Training Center including maintaining all tools and equipment and ensuring tool and equipment safety and security.
· Responsible for proper and secure storage of equipment, including computers.
· Ensure a welcoming atmosphere for clients and community.
ASSOCIATED JOB DUTIES:
· Participates in all staff meetings as required.
· Provides regular reports and updates to the VP, Programs and Partnerships regarding progress towards goals and suggested changes in programming.
· Travel to job and training sites.
· Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Associate degree and seven (7) years of experience in construction industry including blueprint reading or ten years of experience, preferably union, in the construction industry including blueprint reading.
· Must currently have or be able to obtain within six weeks any instructor certifications as required (i.e. NCCER, OSHA 10).
· Five years of adult education or instructional experience in construction preferred.
· Five years of experience in project management and client tracking software preferred.
· Valid Indiana driver’s license
· Must have own transportation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
· Hands on construction building experience and a working knowledge and expertise of basic tools.
· Strong interpersonal skills and aptitude to work with people at many different levels.
· Ability to perform required computerized tasks to include any combination of word processing, e-mail, internet, and web-based applications.
· Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
· Passion for working one-on-one with adults who require support to be successful in their careers.
· Is highly skilled at classroom/workshop management.
RESPONSIBILITY:
· Maintains protected health information in accordance with HIPAA privacy guidelines and regulations.
· Maintains confidentiality.
· Daily documentation of activities and monthly activity report preparation.
· Provides/shares information with other staff members as appropriate
JUDGMENT:
· Employee may work independently under the general direction of their manager.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
· Work is performed at the Construction Training Center
· Some weekend and/or evening work
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
· Must be able to work in a dusty and noisy environment
Pay: $23.74 - $30.48 per hour
