GM has the largest connected vehicle fleet worldwide. In the US alone, there are currently 9M+ connected GM vehicles on the road and that number is projected to triple in the next 10 years. More than that, the OnStar system currently has access to over 900 data points from the vehicle. This surge in information about vehicles and how they are driven will revolutionize auto insurance. What makes you an ideal candidate?
- Software development expertise in the high level programming language used by the product team
- Data and query analysis and optimization to deliver scalable, performant products and services
- Test data management to drive automated, repeatable, and reliable testing
- Proficient in new feature development, automated tests, and the implementation of security controls
- Experience working in Agile Scrum teams, suggesting and contributing to improvements (getting better/faster/happier)Demonstrates software development excellence (software is simple, understandable, reusable, and secure)
- Troubleshoots complex problems and works across teams to meet commitments
- Drives adoption of best practices; cultivates innovation and learning
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills
- The SDE will have expertise in the following technologies as required for the product being developed:
- Pipeline Automation: Azure DevOps (YAML, ARM), Terraform
- Code Scanning: SonarQube, Checkmarx
- Source Code repos: Git
- UI: ASP.NET MVC
- Containerization: Azure Kubernetes Service, Kubernetes (open source), Docker
- High level programming languages: Java, C# (.NET MVC and .NET Core)
- Scripting: Powershell, Bash
- Database: Microsoft SQL Server, NoSQL (e.g. CosmosDB)
- Test Automation: Specflow/ReqnRoll, Selenium, Postman, Maven, TestNG, JMeter
- Operating systems: Windows, Linux
Cloud Native Hosting: Azure, AWS, GCP, PaaS experience preferred

Additional Knowledge and Skills
Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:
- Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
- Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
- Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
- Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection

Work Experience & Education
- 2-4 years experience in software development required
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field; and/or commensurate experience preferred

The base salary range for this role is: USD $87,000 to $165,500
At GM Financial, we strive for equity in all aspects of our business, including pay equity. This is the GM Financial pay range for this role and job level. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience and education.
This role is eligible to participate in performance-based incentive plans. Full time employees are eligible to participate in health benefits on day one of employment.
