First Shift Shelter Case Manager
The Shelter Case Manager provides client-centered, trauma-informed support to survivors of domestic violence who are seeking or receiving emergency shelter services. Through advocacy, information, and individualized care, this role helps clients identify their needs, set meaningful goals, access resources, and take steps toward safety, stability, independence, and lives free from domestic violence.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred; at least two years’ experience in advocacy, counseling, case management, hotline services, and/or residential services preferred. Strong preference given to bilingual candidates (Spanish & English). Required skills include ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to multi-task, strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and to prioritize responsibilities, demonstrated ability to advocate on behalf of others, and a willingness to support the agency mission. Prefer experience in advocacy for underserved populations, domestic violence, and/or residential programs. Local travel necessary, reliable transportation required.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Provide services that are client-centered, trauma-informed and empowerment-based.
· Ensure client confidentiality as outlined in CGS 52-146K and the Center’s confidentiality policy.
· Ensure compliance with funding requirements and contracts and the Center’s policies and procedures.
· Work collaboratively with PCC staff and other community providers to address client needs, offer resources, and improve access for PCC shelter clients.
· Answer the Emergency Hotline as needed
· Participate in team/staff meetings
· Maintain consistent communication flow with shelter team
· Collaborate with Children’s Services Coordinator
· Conduct client centered work, including but not limited to:
o Advocacy, support, counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and information/referrals.
o Develop individual safety plans and individual goal plans with clients.
o Maintain client files and information
o Assist with protective/restraining orders and other court matters, as needed.
o Provide/arrange transportation for clients.
o Build and maintain relationships with community providers, landlords and other agencies to establish referral/support networks for clients.
General and Related Responsibilities:
· Assist in additional agency operations as requested.
· Actively participate in staff trainings
· Acquire and maintain certification as a Domestic Violence Counselor.
· Represent PCC at community meetings as requested.
· Attend CCADV meetings/trainings as required.
· Assist in fundraising and community awareness activities and agency functions.
· Record and compile client data as required.
· Perform related duties as required and/or deemed necessary.
This position is full-time and is non-exempt from the provisions of wage/hour laws and reports to the Shelter Manager. This position is non-exempt and hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM.
Pay: From $47,500.00 per year
