Concrete Form Setter / Concrete Finisher / Prep & Grade LaborerJob Summary
We are looking for an experienced Concrete Form Setter who can also finish concrete, saw cut control joints, and perform prep and grading work prior to concrete placement. This position requires someone who understands the full concrete process from layout and subgrade preparation through forming, pouring, finishing, curing, and cleanup.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, safety-minded, and able to work as part of a crew on residential, commercial, and/or site concrete projects.
Responsibilities
- Set, brace, and align concrete forms according to plans, layout, elevations, and field conditions
- Prepare and grade areas for concrete placement, including subgrade shaping, compaction, stone placement, and final grade checks
- Read and understand basic drawings, grades, stakes, stringlines, and elevations
- Install reinforcement such as rebar, wire mesh, dowels, and expansion joints as required
- Place, spread, screed, bull float, edge, joint, trowel, broom, and finish concrete
- Perform saw cutting of control joints at proper spacing, depth, and timing
- Assist with concrete pours, including chute work, raking, shoveling, vibrating, and cleanup
- Ensure forms are straight, level, properly secured, and ready for inspection or pour
- Strip forms and clean, maintain, and organize tools and equipment
- Operate small equipment and tools such as compactors, saws, lasers, hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment
- Maintain a clean and safe jobsite
- Follow company safety policies and OSHA standards
- Work with foremen, operators, truck drivers, inspectors, and other crew members to complete projects efficiently and correctly
Qualifications
- Previous experience setting forms and finishing concrete required
- Ability to prep and grade for concrete placement
- Experience saw cutting concrete control joints
- Ability to use lasers, levels, stringlines, stakes, and basic layout tools
- Knowledge of concrete placement, finishing techniques, curing, and joint layout
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical labor throughout the day
- Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a crew
- Ability to follow directions and communicate clearly
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Experience operating skid steers, mini excavators, compactors, or other small equipment is a plus
Desired Skills
- Sidewalks, driveways, slabs, pads, curbs, aprons, footers, and flatwork experience
- Ability to check grades and elevations accurately
- Strong attention to detail with form alignment and finish quality
- Knowledge of proper saw cut spacing and timing
- Ability to troubleshoot field conditions and make practical adjustments
- Willingness to help with excavation, stone base, forming, pouring, finishing, and cleanup as needed
Work Requirements
- Full-time position
- Must be able to work early mornings and occasional overtime as needed
- Must have reliable transportation to job sites or company shop
- Must wear required PPE
- Must be able to work safely around equipment, trucks, tools, and active construction sites
Compensation
Pay is based on experience, skill level, and ability to perform multiple phases of concrete work.
Pay: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour
