Responsibilities
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide fabrication and assembly processes.
- Fabricate metal components using various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), adhering to AWS standards.
- Operate shop tools such as press brake machines, plasma cutters, power tools, and sheet metal fabrication equipment to shape and assemble parts.
- Read and utilize calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools to ensure accurate dimensions and quality control.
- Perform construction site preparation and assembly of ductwork, piping, and structural frameworks for automation systems.
- Conduct rigging, pipe threading, and crane operations safely to move heavy materials during fabrication and installation.
- Follow ASME codes & standards for mechanical fabrication projects while maintaining safety protocols on-site.
- Collaborate with team members to interpret schematics and technical drawings for efficient project completion.
- Maintain a clean, organized shop environment while adhering to all safety regulations related to welding, machining, and construction activities.
Skills
- Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of mechanical fabrication processes.
- Expertise in MIG welding, TIG welding, FCAW, SMAW, and welding techniques with knowledge of AWS standards.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, mechanical drawings, and interpret technical schematics accurately.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise fabrication work.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication including plasma cutting and press brake operation.
- Familiarity with rigging procedures, crane operation, pipe threading, and ductwork installation.
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards applicable to manufacturing and metal fabrication projects.
- Mechanical knowledge related to machining, soldering, assembly processes, and schematic interpretation.
- Ability to work safely on construction sites while coordinating with team members using forklifts or other lifting equipment as needed.
- Strong attention to detail combined with basic math skills necessary for accurate measurements and calculations in fabrication tasks.
