Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated phlebotomist with at least 1 year experience to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will perform blood collection and specimen processing with precision and compassion, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and laboratory accuracy. Your expertise in venipuncture, specimen handling, and laboratory techniques will contribute significantly to accurate diagnostics and patient outcomes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your skills directly impact patient health and well-being. Along with using your skills to work in our lab, you will use your medical knowledge triaging patients, obtaining medical history, and other minor procedures in the clinic. ONLY EXPERIENCED applicants will be considered for this position.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with proficiency, adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols
- Collect, label, and process specimens accurately following established laboratory procedures
- Ensure proper specimen handling, storage, and transportation to maintain integrity for testing
- Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures clearly, maintaining comfort, and demonstrating empathy across diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics
- Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for data entry, documentation, and tracking of specimens
- Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist in patient care activities as directed by healthcare protocols
- Maintain compliance with laboratory safety standards such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff
Experience
- Proven laboratory experience with a focus on phlebotomy, specimen collection, and processing in a clinical or hospital setting
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory procedures
- Prior experience working with EMR/EHR systems for accurate data entry and documentation
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques including aseptic technique, blood sampling methods, and specimen handling protocols
- Experience providing patient care in diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely when necessary during specimen transport or equipment setup
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on effective communication, professionalism, and empathy
