Hillel Academy of Denver is seeking an experienced, passionate and dedicated middle school language arts teacher for sixth, seventh and eighth grade boys. Male teacher preferred; will consider female teacher.
You will be responsible for:
- Creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment, and
- Utilizing your expertise in language arts, designing and implementing comprehensive lessons that foster a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking.
As an afternoon job, this position is ideal for a recently retired teacher or someone who wants a better work/life balance.
About the Role:
- Teach language arts skills including reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary to small classes,
- Implement curriculum that aligns with Hillel Academy's educational philosophy and standards,
- Assess student progress and provide support to ensure students meet their academic goals,
- Collaborate with the General Studies Director of Education to develop and implement projects and activities,
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and provide regular progress reports to parents,
- Stay current with best practices in language arts education.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities,
- Create and manage a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active learning and respect for all students,
- Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress.
All legal holidays are paid days off. 10 paid personal / sick days.
Pay is $27,400 for a teacher with less than 5 years experience,
$28,700 for a teacher with more than 5 years experience.
Hours: 12:15-3:45, Monday-Friday (Fridays are shorter hours in the winter), 175-180 school days in the year.
