The Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) Campus Operations function is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and exceptional facility operations that support world-class events and guest experiences. Through strong operational oversight, vendor partnerships, and team leadership, Campus Operations ensures the Authority’s facilities operate at the highest standards of quality, safety practices, incident response, and preventive maintenance.
GROUNDS SUPERVISOR POSITION SUMMARY
The Authority is currently recruiting a Grounds Supervisor to join Georgia World Congress Center. The Grounds Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the exterior grounds maintenance program, ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of the Authority's campus, parking lots, decks, and surrounding outdoor spaces. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, exterior cleaning, bulk trash removal, snow and ice response, gutter and drainage system maintenance, and supporting a safe, welcoming environment for guests, clients, and team members as required by the Grounds Manager. GROUNDS SUPERVISOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is moderately exposed to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The ability to lift 50 pounds or more may be required of this position. Daily shifts will endure various degrees of walking, standing, turning, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling, requiring a full range of body movements. This position will require work outside of the building.
GROUNDS SUPERVISOR ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision of maintenance of exterior grounds, maintaining compliance with safety and code procedures, operational techniques, and other duties as prescribed by Facility Management

Provide leadership for grounds maintenance staff and vendors/contractors in maintaining a safe and aesthetically pleasing campus environment

Maintain accountability of work orders for his/her assigned areas

Be proactive in finding ways to work smarter and more efficiently

Ensure facilities are maintained at the highest standard in the industry

Assist with activities of external service vendors and service contractors as required in accordance with guidelines established by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority

Monitor and secure the safekeeping of all equipment and supplies as required
-
Review and make recommendations regarding policies and procedures to assist in ensuring the efficient operation of the Facility Management department

Evaluate and maintain equipment and supplies as required
-
Generate weekly work schedules and provide overall supervision of staff
-
Maintain productivity in accordance with departmental standards and promote efficiency
-
Conduct regular weekly meetings with staff to review work standards and schedules
-
Maintain equipment and supplies to ensure proper maintenance is performed on equipment, and adequate levels of supplies are maintained at all times
-
Review systems, and work performed on systems to ensure that the performance is in accordance with all applicable federal, state, county and city codes.
- Conduct regular inspections of work being performed, equipment, and physical space to ensure that all are maintained at the highest standards deemed reasonable

Make recommendations regarding policies and procedures to assist in ensuring the efficient operation of the Facility Management department.

Coordinate with departmental managers and other supervisors to ensure maximum use of resources, i.e. equipment, staff, materials, etc.

Participate in departmental operations meetings, and attend other meetings as required.

Initiate and authorize purchase requests as required

The Grounds Supervisor is required to work an irregular schedule, and work assignments in order to effectively perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Maintain a close working relationship with service contractors, clients and others who frequently operate within the Georgia World Congress Center and COP

Must demonstrate ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form is required

Be proactive in facility and equipment maintenance; provide management reports on items/areas beyond your resources

Conduct and participate in Georgia World Congress Center Authority training programs as required
-
Maintain a professional image that represents the philosophy of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority with emphasis on providing customers with the highest level of customer service deemed possible

Perform such other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned.

GROUNDS SUPERVISOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Minimum High School Education or GED
-
Valid Driver’s License required
-
Prefer two (2) years of College or Technical School degree preferred.

A minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience is required

Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
