Responsibilities
- Safely operate a box truck or personal vehicle to deliver packages across designated routes, adhering strictly to traffic regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques or material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, ensuring safe lifting practices and proper weight distribution.
- Manage delivery schedules efficiently by planning optimal routes using mobile devices or GPS tools, ensuring timely arrivals at each destination.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting recipients professionally, answering questions about deliveries, and obtaining signatures or proof of delivery when required.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure safety and compliance with DOT regulations; report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, and delivery documentation for accountability and reporting purposes.
- Assist with warehouse operations when necessary, including moving goods within storage areas using manual or powered equipment.
Experience
- Prior experience in delivery driving or courier services is highly preferred; familiarity with route driving and heavy lifting is essential.
- Warehouse experience including material handling equipment operation such as pallet jacks or moving carts is advantageous.
- Knowledge of commercial driving regulations, including adherence to traffic laws and DOT requirements related to weight handling in the workplace.
- Demonstrated ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while lifting heavy items consistently throughout the shift.
- Strong customer service skills with a professional attitude when interacting with clients and team members.
- Valid driver’s license suitable for operating a box truck or personal vehicle with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission is a plus.
