Job Summary

Duties
- Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, oral surgery, and implant placement.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic technique standards.
- Take accurate dental x-rays and medical imaging, ensuring proper technique and patient safety while adhering to HIPAA regulations for medical documentation and confidentiality.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR systems), updating medical history, treatment notes, and billing information efficiently.
- Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure optimal care.
- Support front desk operations by assisting the dental receptionist with patient management software, appointment scheduling, and patient communication.
- Maintain clinical cleanliness by following dental sterilization procedures and infection control protocols aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and answer questions related to general dentistry procedures.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent licensure in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental clinic environment, preferably with oral surgery exposure.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, dental equipment operation, and medical terminology related to dentistry.
- Familiarity with EMR systems; experience with patient management software is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dental x-ray techniques including digital radiography; certification in X-ray safety is preferred.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and clinical confidentiality policies (HIPAA compliance).
- Ability to perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry including oral cavity structures and medical imaging interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care; ability to work collaboratively within a team focused on delivering high-quality general dentistry services.
