We are seeking an experienced and dependable Engineering Shop Chief to oversee the daily operations, organization, maintenance, purchasing, and supply management of the Island Resort engineering shop. This position is responsible for ensuring that the shop remains properly stocked, organized, operational, and equipped to support the needs of the engineering and maintenance teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the care, cleanliness, organization, and general maintenance of the engineering shop.
- Manage the purchasing of tools, equipment, parts, materials, and other supplies required for daily operations.
- Obtain quotes, place orders, and coordinate with vendors and suppliers.
- Track all purchase orders, deliveries, and receipts to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Monitor inventory levels and anticipate supply needs to prevent shortages or interruptions in shop operations.
- Coordinate the daily pickup of supplies, parts, and materials from vendors and suppliers as required.
- Inspect incoming materials and supplies for accuracy and completeness.
- Follow up with vendors regarding backorders, incorrect shipments, damaged items, or other purchasing issues.
- Maintain an organized system for storing tools, parts, materials, and supplies.
- Assist engineering and maintenance personnel in locating and obtaining needed parts and materials.
- Ensure shop equipment, tools, and work areas are properly maintained and ready for use.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Perform other duties related to the efficient operation of the engineering shop as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in an engineering, maintenance, mechanical, industrial or similar shop environment preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple orders and priorities simultaneously.
- Good communications and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions regarding shop operations and purchasing,
- Valid driver's license.
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and lift as required—with or without reasonable accommodations
