Overview
We are seeking an energetic and customer-focused Train Station Attendant to join our team. In this vital role, you will be the friendly face welcoming travelers, managing station operations, and ensuring a safe, efficient environment for all passengers. Your proactive approach will help maintain smooth station flow, provide excellent customer service, and support the safety of everyone passing through the station.
Duties
- Greet passengers warmly and provide clear information about schedules, routes, and station facilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the station area, including platforms, restrooms, emptying trash, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and waiting areas.
- Communicate effectively with team members and passengers using strong communication skills.
- Follows safety policies and procedures and maintains safe environment for public. Follows written Selma Train Procedures regarding security of building.
- Calls Amtrak hourly to verify train status.
- Makes announcements regarding train status and safety precaution using intercom. Escorts customers to platform outside train station.
- Maintains customer count of arrivals and departures.
- Maintains good attendance and follows procedure for reporting absences. Maintains a positive working relationship with coworkers and supervisors.
Non-Essential Functions: Performs other work related duties as required.
Experience
- Demonstrated ability to handle manual tasks such as lifting safely in a busy environment
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Basic numeracy skills and retail math transactions
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse community needs

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to meet established safety guidelines and work effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
Education & Experience:
Required: Age 18 or older. Good attendance. Preferred: Age 18 or older, good attendance and one-year of work experience.
Occupational Demands: Must be able to complete tasks assigned and lift 25 pounds regularly. Work can be performed inside and outside. Work assignments may vary.
