Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Tow Truck Flatbed Driver/Operator to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting vehicles using a flatbed tow truck, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring all cargo is secured according to industry standards. Your mechanical knowledge and driving expertise will help us deliver prompt, reliable towing and vehicle recovery services. Person applying must not have any points on their driver's license.
Duties
- Operate flatbed tow trucks with manual transmissions to transport vehicles efficiently and safely across various locations.
- Safely load and unload vehicles onto the flatbed, adhering to cargo securement protocols to prevent damage during transit.
- Conduct basic vehicle diagnostics and minor mechanical repairs as needed to ensure tow truck readiness and address vehicle issues on-site.
- Perform vehicle recovery towing, including vehicle mechanics for truck drivers, using proper techniques for different scenarios.
- Manage cargo securement protocols, ensuring all vehicles are properly secured before transport to prevent accidents or damage.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients, explaining services, and addressing concerns professionally.
- Maintain accurate logs of all towing activities, inspections, and safety checks in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine inspections of the tow truck’s mechanical systems, including brakes, lights, hydraulics, and tires, to ensure optimal operation.
- Follow safety procedures diligently during driving, loading/unloading, and vehicle recovery operations to minimize risks.
Experience
- Proven experience operating commercial trucks, specifically flatbed tow trucks with manual transmissions.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform minor vehicle repairs and basic troubleshooting on trucks and customer vehicles.
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostics and automotive repair techniques is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of cargo securement protocols and vehicle recovery towing procedures is essential.
- Previous experience in commercial driving or car towing is preferred; a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) is required.
- Ability to manage conflict effectively while maintaining professionalism in challenging situations.
- Experience with forklift operation or other material handling equipment is a plus but not mandatory.
