Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Locum Physician Assistant - General Surgery for our client in North Carolina!
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive inpatient clinical care, with a core focus on rounding on post-surgical patients on the floor (70% of duties) and managing inpatient consultations for facial trauma (30% of duties).
- Conduct virtual consultations and direct workflows for outside institutions utilizing dedicated telehealth platforms.
- Manage a daily workflow averaging 12 patients per shift, facilitating necessary admissions while upholding hospital stroke-certified operational protocols.
- Collaborate with the inpatient clinical team within a specialized 5-bed department framework.
Qualifications
- Certified Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in General Surgery (experience with post-surgical rounding and facial trauma consults preferred).
- Required life support certification including BLS.
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible status.
- Active state medical license matching the facility's location.
Schedule
- Coverage Needed: Active clinical coverage requested on an ASAP - Ongoing basis.
- Shift Structure: Scheduled clinical hours only, operating across combined inpatient and telehealth practice settings.
- Call Requirements: Standard clinical hours only with no call requirements.
- Credentialing Time Frame: 60–90 days (Temporary privileges are not available).
Skills
- Strong clinical proficiency in performing post-surgical rounding and managing acute inpatient facial trauma consults.
- High efficiency in executing remote care protocols and utilizing telehealth systems for outside medical institutions.
- Ability to maintain a steady clinical pace with 12 patients per shift and manage localized workflows within a 5-bed department structure.
- Clear communication and collaboration skills to manage hospital admissions and interface effectively with multidisciplinary specialty teams.
All travel expenses are reimbursed by our client and Orchard covers malpractice insurance with tail coverage!
