Master Research & Manufacturing INC. is a growing aerospace manufacturing company specializing in high-precision CNC-machined components for military and commercial aircraft programs. We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineer with extensive experience in PC-DMIS and/or Calypso programming to strengthen our quality department and support continued growth.
This position is ideal for a hands-on quality professional who understands aerospace manufacturing, precision inspection, and quality systems, and who can confidently lead quality initiatives while supporting advanced CMM programming and inspection activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain CMM programs using PC-DMIS and/or Calypso.
- Support first article inspections (AS9102), in-process inspections, and final inspections.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, customer specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions using 8D, 5 Why, and other quality methodologies.
- Interface directly with aerospace customers regarding quality issues, corrective actions, and audit findings.
- Review and approve inspection plans and quality documentation.
- Support and maintain compliance with AS9100 quality management system requirements.
- Conduct internal audits and assist with customer and third-party audits.
- Analyze inspection data, quality trends, nonconformances, and process capability metrics.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, programming, and inspection teams to improve quality and reduce defects.
- Assist with supplier quality activities and vendor corrective actions.
- Train and mentor inspectors and quality personnel on best practices and inspection techniques.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace quality engineering, quality assurance, or advanced inspection.
- Extensive hands-on experience programming and operating CMMs using PC-DMIS and/or Calypso.
- Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Experience supporting AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAIRs).
- Thorough knowledge of AS9100 quality requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret aerospace blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality investigations.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes including 3, 4, and 5-axis milling and turning operations.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field.
- Experience with Zeiss CMM equipment.
- Knowledge of Net-Inspect, DISCUS, and customer quality portals.
- CQE, CQA, or other ASQ certifications.
- Experience managing customer audits and supplier quality programs.
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and capability studies.
