Responsibilities
- Coordinate the intake and review of medical documentation related to workers' compensation claims, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Verify insurance coverage, including Medicare and Medicaid, to confirm eligibility and facilitate proper billing procedures.
- Maintain meticulous documentation ensuring required authorizations are obtained prior to services being rendered and they are accessible for easy retrieval and compliance with legal standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to interpret medical coding to ensure accurate billing and record keeping.
- Assist in the reconciliation of worker's compensation payments against billed amounts for accuracy using EHR; resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Support the claims process by verifying medical records against insurance requirements, facilitating timely payments, and maintaining detailed logs of all activities.
Skills
- Proven clerical experience with strong medical record management, and organizational skills; in addition to obtain prior authorizations and care coordination.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical documentation standards.
- Experience with insurance verification processes for Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers.
- Familiarity with medical billing procedures and financial software used in healthcare settings such a Athena, eClinicalWorks, or similar.
- Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately and communicate effectively with healthcare providers and insurance representatives.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple claims efficiently.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other relevant software tools.

Job Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- At least two years of front office experience in a medical office with experience using an EMR system.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
