Pathologists' Assistant
8-Week Assignment (Possible Extension)
About the Role
We're seeking a licensed Pathologists' Assistant to join a hospital clinical laboratory, performing gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens, assisting in the training of Pathology Residents in gross room techniques, and supporting the full specimen lifecycle from accessioning through histological preparation.

- Location: Midtown Manhattan - Hospital
- Setting: Hospital clinical laboratory, Surgical Pathology
- Pay Rate: $95 per hour
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (45-minute unpaid lunch)
- Contract Length: 8-week assignment, with possible extension
What You'll Do
- Perform macroscopic description and gross examination/dissection of large, complex specimens, as well as small biopsies
- Prepare and section tissue for histological processing
- Handle specimen accessioning, receipt, labeling, and fixation
- Conduct gross and microscopic photography
- Assist and train Pathology Residents in gross room techniques
- Obtain and review patient clinical information (scans, X-rays, lab results, radiography)
What We're Looking For
- NYS Licensure as a Pathologists' Assistant
- Bachelor's or higher degree from a Pathologists' Assistant program (or NYSED-equivalent program), OR a Bachelor's or higher degree from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program
- Master's degree preferred
- 0–3 years of related experience in Pathology (required)
- Fellow of the American Association of Pathologists' Assistants (preferred)
- ASCP certification (preferred)
