Job Summary
The Certified Peer Specialist plays a vital role in supporting individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. By leveraging their lived experiences, Certified Peer Specialists provide guidance, encouragement, and practical assistance to help clients navigate their recovery journey. This position involves fostering a supportive environment that promotes empowerment, resilience, and personal growth.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one support to clients, sharing personal experiences to inspire hope and motivation.
- Assist clients in setting and achieving personal goals related to recovery and wellness.
- Assist in transportation needs.
- Facilitate group discussions and workshops focused on coping strategies, life skills, and recovery education.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques to support clients in high-stress situations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
- Advocate for clients within various systems, including healthcare, social services, and community resources.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Skills
- Proficiency in addiction counseling techniques and behavioral health practices.
- Strong motivational interviewing skills to effectively engage clients in their recovery process.
- Experience in mentoring individuals facing similar challenges to foster personal development.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and crisis management strategies.
- Familiarity with social work principles and mental health counseling methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining client confidentiality.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
