Interior Shop Technician
Toledo Jet — Toledo Express Airport (TOL), Swanton, OH
Precision Craftsmanship.
Toledo Jet is seeking a skilled Interior Shop Technician to join our Toledo Express Airport (TOL) team. In this hands-on role, you’ll refurbish, repair, and fabricate cabin interiors for corporate and business turbine aircraft — restoring each cabin to a like-new standard of fit, finish, and comfort. Working under our FAA Part 145 Repair Station certificate (CRS 2TJR420B), your workmanship will meet both our customers’ expectations and FAA airworthiness and flammability standards.
Position Summary
The Interior Shop Technician is a skilled craft position responsible for the removal, repair, fabrication, refurbishment, and reinstallation of aircraft cabin interiors — upholstery, cabinetry, carpet, soft goods, and trim — along with the documentation and compliance required in a certificated repair station. This is a trade/craft position; an FAA A&P certificate is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Remove, repair, refurbish, and reinstall interior components including seats, divans, headliners, sidewalls, bulkheads, and sound panels.
- Perform upholstery work in leather, fabric, and foam — cutting, sewing on industrial machines, fitting, and finishing.
- Fabricate, bind, and install cabin carpet.
- Repair and refinish cabinetry, veneer, laminate, and high-gloss surfaces.
- Produce and install soft goods such as curtains, seat covers, and window treatments.
- Ensure all materials and installations meet FAA flammability / fire-block requirements (14 CFR 25.853), maintaining burn certification and material traceability documentation.
- Read and interpret work orders, drawings, patterns, and specifications.
- Document all work accurately per Repair Station and Quality Manual procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized shop with strict tool control and FOD prevention.
- Support cabin refurbishment and completion projects alongside the maintenance and avionics teams.
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in aircraft interior refurbishment — or comparable high-end upholstery / cabinetry work (marine, automotive, custom furniture) with a willingness to learn aviation standards.
- Proficiency with industrial sewing machines and upholstery hand tools.
- Ability to work with leather, fabric, foam, laminates, veneers, and plastics.
- Ability to read and work from patterns, templates, drawings, and work orders.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in finish quality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in confined cabin spaces.
- High school diploma or GED.
Preferred
- Experience with corporate / business turbine aircraft interiors (Citation, Hawker, Learjet, Falcon, Challenger, Gulfstream, King Air, and comparable platforms).
- Familiarity with FAA flammability / fire-block requirements and burn certification documentation.
- Experience in an FAA Part 145 repair station or aircraft completion / refurbishment environment.
- Cabinetry, woodworking, or high-gloss finishing experience.
- FAA A&P certificate a plus (not required).
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
- Medical, dental, and vision benefits.
- 401(k) with company matching.
- Paid time off and company holidays.
- Stable, full-time position with a growing aviation company.
- Professional development and career growth opportunities.
