Job Overview
The Operations/Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the trucking fleet and coordinating the delivery of construction materials such as gravel, sand, rock, soil, asphalt, and other aggregate products as well as all deliveries. This position ensures efficient dispatching of trucks, timely deliveries, excellent customer service, driver supervision, equipment utilization, and operational profitability while maintaining compliance with transportation and safety regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Fleet & Dispatch Operations
- Schedule and dispatch company trucks and drivers for daily deliveries and hauling assignments.
- Coordinate deliveries with customers, contractors, suppliers, and job sites.
- Optimize truck routing to maximize productivity and minimize fuel and labor costs.
- Monitor truck locations using GPS and dispatch software.
- Respond quickly to schedule changes, weather delays, equipment breakdowns, and customer requests.
- Balance workloads between company trucks and subcontracted haulers when necessary.
Material Sales & Customer Service
- Receive customer orders for aggregate and construction materials.
- Prepare delivery schedules based on production, inventory, and customer deadlines.
- Communicate pricing, delivery times, and order status to customers.
- Resolve customer concerns regarding deliveries, invoices, or product availability.
- Maintain strong relationships with contractors, municipalities, and commercial customers.
Driver & Employee Management
- Supervise dispatch personnel and company drivers.
- Prepare driver schedules and approve timecards.
- Conduct safety meetings and operational training.
- Ensure drivers comply with DOT/FMCSA regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and company policies.
- Monitor driver performance and coach employees to improve safety and productivity.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or Transportation preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of trucking, construction, aggregate, or logistics experience.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or dispatch management experience.
- Knowledge of dump truck operations, aggregate materials, and construction logistics preferred.
- Experience with dispatch, GPS, fleet management, and accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $87,000.00 per year
