Duties
- Operate X-ray equipment to produce diagnostic images of various parts of the body, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate evaluation.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process, positioning them correctly, and ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and yourself during all procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians and radiologists to perform specialized imaging studies such as PET scans, CT scans, mammography, DEXA scans, sonography, and nuclear medicine procedures.
- Assist in emergency situations by providing rapid diagnostic radiology services in Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma center environments with experience in emergency medicine.
- Keep detailed records of all imaging procedures, including patient information, technical details, and image quality assessments.
- Stay current with advancements in medical imaging technology and techniques to continually enhance service quality and diagnostic accuracy.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an X-Ray Technician with proficiency in general radiography and specialized imaging modalities such as PET scan, CT, mammography, DEXA scan, sonography, or nuclear medicine is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and diagnostic evaluation processes.
- Demonstrated ability to operate complex medical imaging equipment while maintaining aseptic technique standards.
- Experience working in urgent care settings or Level I/II trauma centers with exposure to emergency room procedures is preferred.
- Certification or licensure as an X-Ray Technician according to state regulations; additional certifications in mammography or DEXA scans are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly and compassionately to patients of all ages.
