Position Title: Admissions Counselor
Reports to: Director of Admissions
Position Summary: The Admissions Counselor works as part of the Admissions team under the direct supervision of the Director of Admissions. This role focuses on identifying, recruiting, and enrolling qualified students who align with the Academy's mission and values. The Admissions Counselor maintains ongoing communication with prospective and current student families, providing attentive, personalized support that reflects a genuine commitment to meeting their individual needs throughout the admissions process. This position requires approximately 30% travel to attend recruiting events, conduct off-campus visits, and represent the Academy at various locations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Actively participates in the Admissions Team's mission to enroll new students and re-enroll current cadets.

Presents the Academy to prospective students and parents through systematic and efficient handling of applications and communication with candidates and their families; interviews prospective students; arranges for admissions testing when required; secures necessary student credentials; and communicates final decisions to families.

Arranges and conducts campus tours, and participates in open houses and other information sessions.

Oversees the admissions process for prospective cadets and their families, ensuring a smooth transition.

Represents Hargrave at recruiting events both on and off campus, including travel to feeder schools, educational conferences, and regional recruitment fairs.

Travels regularly to meet with prospective families, educational consultants, and partner organizations to promote the Academy and build the enrollment pipeline.

Performs other duties as assigned and supports the school’s mission and its leadership.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

Strong interpersonal skills (oral and written) with a service-oriented attitude

3-5 years of successful recruiting or sales experience

Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products and ability to enter data into CRM systems

Strong phone communication skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information

Available to work some weekends to host events such as open houses or tours for prospective families

Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time, including occasional overnight trips

Valid driver's license with a good driving record; must be insurable

Comfortable with extended periods of driving and adaptable to changing travel schedules
Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in Business, Communication, Education, or Marketing is preferred

Proficient at managing customer relationship management systems and databases

Demonstrated ability to build rapport quickly with diverse audiences and project an enthusiastic, welcoming presence that reflects positively on the Academy
Experience working as an Admissions Counselor in a private school is preferred but strongly suggested.

Experience in process design and improvement is preferred

Familiarity with the geographic regions relevant to the Academy's recruitment efforts is preferred
