This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

Job Title: Chemical Technician
Work Location: Billingsley, AL
Requirements:
Required PPE: Hard hat, Steel toe/Safety toe boots, Safety glasses, Full face respirator, Hearing protection
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Chemistry or other field of science with a MINIMUM of 12 semester hours in Chemistry required.
- Certified Chemical Technician (CCT) credential
- Certified Laboratory Safety Professional (CLSP) credential
- Experience and competency in the use, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation/equipment
- Knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Prior experience and knowledge of boiler/water analysis preferred.
- Previous work experience in a water treatment plant preferred.
- Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Familiarity with mechanical parts and repair is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in production of deionized water is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tracking inventory
- Prioritizing orders
- Maintaining lab equipment
- Documenting the processes during each chemical test
- Following environmental regulations
- Reviewing newly published safety protocols from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFRA)
- Preparing chemical solutions
- Completing chemical orders
- Storing solutions safely according to different temperature requirements
- Conducting lab tests to ensure that chemicals are safe to use
- Recording and troubleshooting issues for further assessment
- Compiling and interpreting lab test results
- Correcting potential anomalies in results
- Monitoring chemical processes and resolving production issues by meeting with the appropriate personnel
- Producing and retrieving graphical results to share with lab managers or more senior personnel
- Sterilizing work surfaces and equipment before using them
- Replacing worn or damaged equipment as needed
Training new technicians on different chemical processes and periodically updating their knowledge of chemical technology
