General Role Player / OPFOR – Expression of Interest Job Overview
We are seeking to compile a roster of interested actors, actresses, role players, and qualified military/defense professionals in the Flagstaff, Arizona area who may be available to support future military simulation and training exercises pending contract award.
This is currently an expression of interest and talent-pool opportunity. Placement and paid work will be contingent upon contract award, exercise requirements, scheduling, and individual qualifications.
Selected personnel may serve as General Role Players and/or OPFOR (Opposing Force) participants in realistic military training environments. Participants will portray a variety of roles designed to create authentic, dynamic scenarios that enhance operational readiness and provide training audiences with challenging, realistic interactions.
We are especially interested in individuals with acting, military, law enforcement, intelligence, special operations, aviation, communications, or tactical training experience.
Bilingual candidates are highly sought after. Fluency in English plus one or more foreign languages is strongly preferred, including but not limited to Arabic, Pashto, Dari, Farsi, and other languages that may support scenario authenticity.
Responsibilities
- Act as a realistic role player or opposing force participant during military training exercises.
- Portray civilian, military, hostile, neutral, or other scenario-specific characters as directed by exercise staff.
- Accurately follow scenario scripts, role instructions, and exercise objectives while adapting naturally to participant actions.
- Support the creation of realistic and challenging training environments based on current tactics, techniques, and procedures.
- Collaborate with exercise planners, controllers, and training staff to support scenario execution.
- Maintain character and situational awareness during dynamic and evolving training scenarios.
- Follow all safety procedures, range requirements, exercise rules, and staff direction.
- When applicable, contribute military, intelligence, law enforcement, aviation, communications, or special operations experience to improve scenario realism.
- Participate in exercise briefings, rehearsals, after-action reviews, and feedback sessions as required.
- Support other simulation and training activities based on contract and exercise requirements.
Desired Qualifications
Candidates from a wide range of professional backgrounds are encouraged to express interest. Particularly valuable qualifications include:
- Acting, theater, film, improv, reenactment, or professional role-playing experience.
- Military or defense experience.
- Law enforcement or public safety experience.
- Special operations or tactical training experience.
- Intelligence, counterintelligence, signals intelligence, electronic warfare, or targeting experience.
- Military aviation or joint operations experience.
- Experience participating in military exercises, simulations, or force-on-force training.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to quickly understand and follow scenario instructions.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations while remaining professional and in character.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in outdoor and physically active training environments.
Language Skills
Bilingual and multilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their information.
We are particularly interested in individuals who are fluent in English and one or more foreign languages. Arabic, Pashto, Dari, and Farsi are highly desirable; however, speakers of any foreign language are encouraged to express interest, as language requirements may vary by contract and training scenario.
Background Screening
All candidates will be required to successfully complete a criminal background check prior to acceptance into the role-player roster or assignment to any training event. Additional screening, credentialing, or eligibility requirements may apply depending on the specific contract or exercise.

Flagstaff, Arizona and surrounding areas
Some training activities may take place outdoors or at specialized training facilities in the region.
